Resolution No. 171
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Planning Commission and
Planning Department recently hosted the 1977 Hawaii Congress
of Planning Officials Conference in Keauhou-Kona, Hawaii;
and
WHEREAS, the Conference, using the theme "1977 - A
Planner' s Potpourri, " was innovatively designed with "Mobile
Workshops'! which sent participants on tours of the area to
look at planning successes and errors; and
WHEREAS, this approach enabled all of its participants
to be both a teacher and a pupil and to actively and meaning-
fully discuss and share common problems with the hope of
arriving at solutions; and
WHEREAS, the Conference was well-attended throughout
its entirety, the sign of a successful conference; and
WHEREAS, members of the Planning Commission and Planning
Deaprtment made sure that all participants were well
accommodated and entertained throughout the Conference and
conveyed the true spirit of Aloha; and
WHEREAS, the outcome of the workshops plus the most
cordial hospitality proved unquestionably to all that the
"Big Island Mo Bettah, "
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it congratulates the Planning Commission
and Planning Department for successfully hosting the 1977
Hawaii Congress of Planning Officials Conference.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County
of Hawaii transmit copies of this resolution to the Mayor, the
Planning Commission and the Planning Department.
