I am writing to show mY strong support for Resol ution No. 3)22-1 :

REQUESTING REGIONAL C OLLAI C RATIO ' TONVARJ=DS AN IMMEDIATE JUST
TRANSITION ANIS EMERGENCY MOBILIZATION EFFORT TO RESTORE ASAFE
CLIMATE.
Resolution leo. 32?-19 takes the first essential step towards addressing the:climate crisis by
acknowledging that an existential climate emergency threatens humanity and the natural world.
Lased upon scientific evidence grounded in the facts. Resolution leo. 22-19 provides a
comprehensive and concrete list.of actions for the county to follow including but not limited to a
climate-friendly purchasing polio-,an increased lacus and incentives for reforestation and
emissions sequestration and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, education for all and pragmatic
emerg e. preparedness that includes cultural practitioners and the entire scientific community,
,
increased focus on electrification of transportation. assistance and incentives for climate-smart
a.rriculturc. and a comittruent to er iro mental justice that prop ides for a just transition.
Rc solution No. 322-19 also justly recognizes that the County has the power to provide an
example to others through its marry opportunites for right action and well-reasoned policies.
Responding ponding to the climate emerc.,ency can challenge the vav that people and their policy makers
often make decisions, Many understand intellectually that the natural world and all that depends
upon it has been.severely impacted,but the impact is not necessarily easy-to see and for many it
may not register as an acutal emergency that needs immediate action, flo-vvever,the science
clearly shows the cause and dire effects of climate change_anti we can not fall into the trap of
planning to do something about it sometime in the f alta, At this point', not all of the impacts of
climate change can he reversed. However,there is still time to make a difference and reduce
many of the impacts Haat humanity and the plaiaet will experience in the conning years----now is
the time to act.
