Aloha Councilmembers,
I am writing to urge you to support Bill 101 which would limit the county's use of toxic
herbicides. The current practice of periodically spraying toxic chemicals and contaminating
our aina is archaic and detrimental to the health our HawaiTs residents. We have many
alternatives for controlling weeds when control is necessary including mowing, goats, cover
crops, and non-toxic alternatives. Look around when you drive through our communities and
notice the signs that people place alongside the road imploring county workers not to spray
their properties-We shouldn't have to beg to not have poison dumped on our land. Stop this
practice and keep our land healthy.
