Date: Saturday,October 12,2019 1:39:17 PM Dear Park and Road Testimony, I am writing in strong support of Bill 101 which prohibits the use of toxic pesticides and herbicides on all county- owned parks, roads, bikeways, sidewalks, trails, drainage ways, and waterways. This legislation is critical to protect Hawai'i County from these common sources of exposure to harmful herbicides. Four years ago, while on the Big Island for work,I temporarily left my toddler in the care of a visiting friend from California.Together the two of them collected wild cherry tomatoes on the side of the road.Within two minutes of eating them,my son started vomiting.Five minutes later,so was my friend. There had been no signage where they had picked the fruit.I did not know who to tell or what I should do for my child.Upon returning to Oahu I related my experience to UH agriculture professor who shrugged it off, remarking that it was only glyphosate that he had been exposed to.Would you be ok with your children,grandchildren,nieces/nephews ingesting something this toxic? Please support Bill 101,to better protect our children, visitors, flora and fauna.Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Soo Sun Choe 3632 Keaolele PI Honolulu,HI 96816-3410 Comm, Ref.
