Aloha mai kakou,
It is time for Hawaii to teach the world that caring for the land is about
patience and persistence - not poison.
I respectfully request that you support Bill 101 - Restrict the spraying of toxic
pesticides in our Hawaii County Parks and Roadways.
Residents of Kaua'i are all too familiar with the effects of glyphosate-based
pesticides.
They are wreaking havoc with the health of our keiki, especially on the West
side. Airborn pesticide particles are traveling far beyond their intended
"targets".
The animals up in Koke'e Park are also being affected. Hunters are noting
physical anomalies in the pig and deer population that make the animals
unfit for consumption.
Our precious Salt Pond is at risk of contamination. We must think seven
generations down the road and leave a health legacy for the next
generations.
Toxic Pesticides such as Round-up used for convenience is not the way to
proceed. Yes, transitioning to organic land management practices will take
time and effort.
However, the benefits will impact Hawai'i for years, hundreds of years to
come.
Please vote responsibly. Leave a legacy of healing. Protect our keiki, our
kupuna, our community and support Bill 101.
