Aloha Councilmembers, Environmental Management Committee and
Director Bill Kucharski,
As you know, many law suits against the toxic chemical manufacturing
companies are in the news and these plaintiffs are winning.
The evidence is there.
The time is now and you are the leadership to end the poisoning of our
public areas.
PLEASE AMEND the BILL TO SHORTEN THE TIMELINE FOR
IMPLEMENTATION. Four years is too long.
It is not as if the County of Hawaii has a 4 year supply of toxic chemicals
to use up. And 1 trust that Procurement can find eco replacements in a
short period of time. We can help with that.
HERBICIDE BAN
Bill 101
Prohibits the use of certain prohibited herbicides on County owned or maintained parks and
alongside County roads, bikeways, sidewalks,trails, drainageways, and waterways; and creates
a transition committee to research and develop alternative methods of vegetation management.
