Dear Council Members,
I'm writing to encourage a support for bill 101 (Herbicide Ban). News of the carcinogenic nature of
common herbicides like glyphosate and the legal consequences being born by companies who
manufacture and distribute these products should give all of us pause. Identification of alternative tactics
must be done to control weeds and vegetation in public parks and right-of-ways.
Reliance on chemicals that have been proven to contribute to human illness and water and soil
contamination is a recipe for public health risks and government liability. Our actions should also
influence what's being sold in our stores. Retailers will find and sell alternatives in response to our
decision and action on this matter.
