;♦tY 0i k,, COUNTY OF HAWAII I t ‘`eff=*- STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. • 364 19 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM SOCIETY OF HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 11TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAII EVENT IN HILO. WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to informing, facilitating, and advocating for persons with or affected by autism in Hawai`i; and WHEREAS, Surfers Healing is a national organization created 23 years ago in California for the purpose of allowing autistic and otherwise disabled children to experience the healing and calming effects of the ocean and surfing; and WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is assisting with the Surfers Healing Hawai`i event in Hilo, which will be held November 30, 2019, at Richardson Ocean Park; and WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is requesting funds to purchase medals, trophies, refreshments, and t-shirts for the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation creates partnerships with other recreation providers and community organizations to maximize service and activities for the public; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawai`i for expenses related to the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event in Hilo. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
