RESOLUTION NO. 366 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM
SOCIETY OF HAWAII FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAII
SURF CAMP AT RICHARDSON OCEAN PARK.
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
serves children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and works to develop opportunities for
all those affected to reach their highest potential; and
WHEREAS, the Surfers Healing Hawai`i Island Chapter provides autistic and disabled
children and their families with the unique experience of surfing with professionals under
supervised conditions; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is partnering with The Autism
Society of Hawai`i and the Surfers Healing Hawaii Island Chapter to host the 11th Annual Surfers
Healing Hawai`i surf camp for children with autism and other disabilities on November 30, 2019,
from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Richardson Ocean Park; and
WHEREAS, an estimated 300 people, including 100 keiki, are expected to participate in
this free surf camp; and
WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is requesting funding assistance to purchase
T-shirts, food, medals, and trophies for the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i surf camp; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawai`i for the 11th Annual
Surfers Healing Hawai`i surf camp at Richardson Ocean Park.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
