(2ND REVISION)
WHEREAS, the appointees and elected officials of the
County of Hawaii are compensated by County funds; and
WHEREAS, the range and scope of that compensation is
presently established by a multi-step pay grade system
which can be applied with a wide range of discretion and
w'thout un'form application to all appointees and elected
officials; and
WHEREAS, appointees and elected officials should be
compensated withion a salary range on the same basis as
employees of bargaining units to assure a sensible relation-
ship to an adequate scheme of compensation for the work they
do ; and
WHEREAS, the development of an appropriate compensation
plan for appointees and elected officials will necessitate
the careful consideration and study by a disinterested body
of advisors; and the Mayor by authority of Article IV
Section 4-4 of the Charter of the County of Hawaii, has the
power to appoint advisory commissions,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Mayor, with the approval of the
Council immediately appoint an advisory commission by
authority granted under Section 4-4 of the Charter to develop
and review an appropriate compensation plan for appointees
and elected officials, except council members;
