Resolution
WHEREAS, it behooves the people of Hawaii to actively seek and
review potential industries for the State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, while the State Department of Planning and Economic
Development assumes this role for the State, this function accrues
to the Department of Research and Development for the County of
Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, a timber industry on the island of Hawaii does represent
an industry for possible expansion and development,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that with the concurrence of the Mayor of the County of
Hawaii it respectfully requests the Department of Research and
Development to submit a report to the Council as to the feasibility
and strategy for development and implementation of an expanded
timber industry in the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Research and
Development be requested to submit said report within two months
of the passage of this resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a copy of
this resolution to Mayor Herbert Matayoshi, County of Hawaii, for
final disposition.
