Resolution
WHEREAS , the residents and former residents with strong ties to
the village of Kapulena in the Hamakua District, County of Hawaii , have
organized the Kapulena Community Association to promote the general
welfare of its members ; and
WHEREAS , the Association, as one of its first projects , desires
to develop a small park and playground on a parcel of State of Hawaii
owned land in Kapulena; and
WHEREAS , the Association is willing to clear, develop and maintain
the park and playground with its own effort and at no expense to the
County of Hawaii ; and
WHEREAS , the Association has requested the assistance of the
County of Hawaii in making the parcel available to the Association.
NOW, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
it supports the request of the Kapulena Community Association and
authorizes the Mayor of the County of Hawaii to request the State of
Hawaii Board of Land and Natural Resources to set aside by Executive
Order to the County of Hawaii an appropriate parcel of State of
Hawaii owned land in Kapulena, Hamakua, District, for public park and
playground purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii
is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Kapulena Community
Association for the clearing, development, maintenance and public
use of the aforementioned parcel of land.
