WHEREAS, FRED AND JULIE HONDA will be honored on February 12,
1978, with a testimonial dinner at the Keauhou Beach Hotel; and
WHEREAS, this occasion is a long overdue recognition to a
well deserved couple who have contributed countless hours toward
various community activities and the development of Kona; and
WHEREAS, JULIE HONDA has served as the chairperson of the
Kona Coffee Festival for seven consecutive years, organizing and
coordinating the publicity, queen's contest and pagentry, exhibits
of arts, crafts, and culinary displays, making these festivities,
dances and parades a successful gala event which honors the Big
Island Coffee Industry; and
WHEREAS, FRED HONDA has daily educated and motivated his
friends and employees in the fine art of hostelry, developing not
only the Keauhou Beach Hotel, but Kona itself into a renown locale
for leisure, conventions, and vacationing; and
WHEREAS, FRED AND JULIE can truly be considered as ambassadors
of the warmth and welcome atmosphere that the Kona area projects
as evidenced by the Kona Coffee Festival and the many successful
conferences and conventions held in Kona,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it takes this means to recognize the many contribu-
tions of FRED AND JULIE HONDA and extend our best wishes and
further support of their work in Kona and the County of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this resolution
to FRED AND JULIE HONDA.
