Subject: Testimony in Support of Bill 101

Dear Hawaii Council,
I ask you to please support bill 101 that would prohibit the use of toxic pesticides and herbicides on all county
owned parks,roads,bikeways,sidewalks,trails,drainageways,and waterways.
The bill allows for a 3 year transition period,establishes a Vegetation Management Transition Committee to guide
the conversion to organic practices,and calls for a complete prohibition on synthetic pesticides on County-owned
land beginning Jan. 1,2023.
Toxic pesticides and herbicides are harmful to human and environmental health.Organic land management practices
can replace the use of chemicals and allow us to be better stewards of the land.
As a person diagnosed with Leukemia,along with many of my friends and family diagnosed with blood cancer
also,I ask you with all I've got to please put a ban on these cancer forming pesticides that are killing people.We
need to protect ourselves,our keiki,and our aina from this horrible poison.
