Dear Hawaii Council,
The wholesale use of poisonous substances will inevitable back fire onto the humans that propagated them. Stop the
killing! This planet that sustains us is saying to us not to continue down this path. LISTEN! The ocean that •
surrounds us will have nmotre plastic than fish by 2050. Sustainable growth versus unsustainable greed.
I ask you to please support bill 101 that would prohibit the use of toxic pesticides and herbicides on all county
owned parks,roads,bikeways,sidewalks,trails,drainageways,and waterways.
The bill allows for a 3 year transition period,establishes a Vegetation Management Transition Committee to guide
the conversion to organic practices,and calls for a complete prohibition on synthetic pesticides on County-owned
land beginning Jan. 1,2023.
Toxic pesticides and herbicides are harmful to human and environmental health.Organic land management practices
can replace the use of chemicals and allow us to be better stewards of the land.
