Re: Operating Budget
The State of Fl:awai`i has agreed to reimburse the County for overtime costs, supplies, equipment
and other expenses incurred by the Hawaii County Police Department in response to the protest
activities related to the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope on the summit of Mauna Kea.
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii to accept these funds.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
$10,000,000 towards the State's reimbursements.

A. REQUEST:
A resolution to enter into a intergovernmental agreement with the State Attorney General's for the
Memorandum of Agreement between The County of Hawaii and State of Hawaii for the reimbursement of the
Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).
We also request a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $10,000,000 for these funds. The
Account numbers are: revenue account 101.3306.17 and expenditure account 010.911.5913.48.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Memorandum of Agreement between The County of Hawaii and the State of Hawaii for the purpose of
reimbursing the County for overtime salary costs, supplies, equipment and other expenses incurred by the
Hawaii County Police Department for the activity relating to the protests of the construction of the Thirty
Meter Telescope (TMT) on the summit of Mauna Kea.
