WHEREAS, RICHARD "RICK" EDWARDS, a former Hawaii Count ..
Councilman from the district of Puna, was duly elected to . lic offi -- %.
in 1968 and capably served his constituency until 1972 ; and

WHEREAS, RICK was the epitome of the gentleman and scho;. r in
the performance of his duties as a representative of the peorie ; a ,
WHEREAS, RICK was instrumental in fulfilling the loyal an."4 + 'es-
ponsible minority party role with honesty and integrity; and
WHEREAS , RICK by his conduct both in public and private life
gained him the trust and respect of his colleagues , setting himself
as an example for the people of our community; and
WHEREAS, besides his busy schedule as Councilman, he found the
time to participate in community and service-oriented activities such
as the Puna Development Corporation, the Pun.a Lions Club , the Hawaii
Island Chamber of Commerce, the Kilauea Council Boy Scouts of America,
and the Republican Party at the State and County levels ; and
WHEREAS, RICK ' s noteworthy efforts were directed toward providing
leadership and service to his community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its sincere appreciation to RICHARD "RICK"
EDWARDS for his many years of unselfish efforts dedicated to the
improvement and betterment of the lifestyle in our County of Hawaii .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit true copies of this resolution to Richard "Rick" Edwards ; to
his mother Helen E. Edwards ; and to his daughter Cindy Holmes .
