Resolution
WHEREAS , Robert Ota a former Big Islander was recently appointed
as a member of the Federal Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee
for Fruits and Vegetables by Robert Bergland, Secretary of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS , under this prestigious as well as important selection,
Robert Ota will be in a favored position to advise, consult and make
recommendations to the U.S. Department of Agriculture on a wide range
of issues relating to various commodities in connection with the multi-
lateral trade negotiations now underway in Geneva, Switzerland; and
WHEREAS , such an assignment will accord him the opportunity to
initiate and influence international and national considerations
regarding agricultural goods including papaya, coffee, macadamia nuts ,
guava and other Hawaii County products; and
WHEREAS , this tremendous task which is of great importance to our
State and County could not be in better hands then those of Robert Ota
who is well versed and highly respected in the field of agriculture
as he was commissioned and is the author of the State of Hawaii
Agriculture Development Plan completed in 1970.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it recognizes and commends Robert Ota on being selected
to serve on this purposeful Committee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is
instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to Robert Ota and
Robert Bergland, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
