WHEREAS, the island of Hawaii, the birthplace of Hawaii's
Macadamia Nut Industry, has been selected as the site of the
1st Annual Hawaiian Holiday Macadamia Nutfest; and
WHEREAS, this Macadamia Nutfest will be held in Honokaa,
the Macadamia Nut Capital of the world, on August 18-27, 1978 ; and
WHEREAS , this commemorative Nutfest promises to be a gala
affair featuring events as a beauty pageant; a women' s softball
tournament; ethnic music and dances; a special golf tournament
using macadamia nut golf balls; the Jaycees ' carnival; a Honokaa
High School football game; horse racing; parades; and the Young
Farmers County Fair; and
WHEREAS, this event will promote another of our Big Island
products before the whole world,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE, IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it extends its aloha and best wishes to the organiz-
ers, supporters and participants of the 1st Annual Hawaiian
Holiday Macadamia Nutfest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this resolution
to the Macadamians, Inc.
