Your Committee on Public Safety, to which was referred Communication No. 548,reports as
follows:
Communication No. 548, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 18, 2019, nominates
Marcella"Bobbye" St. Ambrogio to the Police Commission.
Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, introduced Ms. Ambrogio. Ms. Ambrogio
graduated from Mills College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and from the New
Jersey Law Enforcement Academy. She is a retired Chief of the Bergin County Sheriff
Department in New Jersey. Since moving to Hawaii 17 years ago, Ms. Ambrogio has been
active in volunteering in numerous community organizations. She is currently serving as the
Community Safety Coordinator with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, as the Hawaii
Island Coordinator with the Neighborhood Watch program, and is a liaison with the Community
Policing, and Fire Commission.
Ms. Ambrogio is honored and gave thanks to the Council for the opportunity to serve on the
Police Commission.
Council Members as a whole are in support of the nomination. Chair Villegas stated that
Ms. Ambrogio is not required to appear before the Council for final approval.
The Committee on Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 548, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Marcella"Bobbye" St. Ambrogio
to the Police Commission.
