Your Committee on Public Safety, to which was referred Communication No. 549, reports as
follows: I
I
Communication No. 549, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 18, 2019,nominates
Rod Quartararo to the Police Commission.
Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, introduced Rod Quartararo. Mr. Quartararo
holds a Bachelor degree in political science from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Approximately six years ago he moved to Hawaii and is currently volunteering as a mediator
with the West Hawaii Mediation Center.
Mr. Quartararo is honored to serve, and gave thanks to the Council for the opportunity.
Council Members as a whole are in support of the nomination. Chair Villegas stated that
Mr. Quartararo is not required to appear before the Council for final approval.
The Committee on Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 549, and recommends confinnation of the appointment of Rod Quartararo to the Police
Commission.
