Resolution No. 277
RESCISSION OF RESOLUTION NO. 337 (1961) PERTAINING TO THE
ABANDONMENT OF COUNTY ROADS IN THE HONOHONONUI SUBDIVISION,
SOUTH HI LO, HAWAII .
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 337 (1961) , entitled "Abandonment
of Government Roadways in Honohononui Subdivision, South
Hilo, Hawaii, " abandoned portions of Laehala Road, the old
Keaukaha Road and Kamokuna Road situated in the Honohononui
Subdivision, South Hilo, Hawaii, as delineated on the map
attached to said resolution; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 337 was adopted pursuant to
a determination by the County of Hawaii that it would have
no further use for said roads; and
WHEREAS, the determination by the County that said
roads would not be of further use was based upon a proposal
for hotel development in the Honohononui Subdivision, which
included the proposed construction of two new access roads
to the subject area and the acquisition of the abandoned
roads by the abutting landowners; and
WHEREAS, said hotel development, including the
construction of the new access roads and the acquisition
of the abandoned roads, has not been accomplished; and
WHEREAS, those portions of Laehala Road, the old
Keaukaha Road, and Kamokuna Road, which were abandoned by
Resolution No. 337, are necessary to the County of Hawaii
for the maintenance of access to the subject area;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that Resolution No. 337 , entitled
"Abandonment of Government Roadways in Honohononui Subdivision,
South Hilo, Hawaii, " be and the same is hereby rescinded.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and
is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution
to the Director of the Department of Land and Natural
Resources, State of Hawaii.
