No. 551 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai i <br /> TIME: 4:31 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council j <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 551,reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 551, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim on October 18, 2019, submitted for the <br /> Council's review his nominee for the Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee, <br /> Marisa R. Bankston, a Kailua-Kona resident. It was noted that Ms. Bankston is a Kailua-Kona resident, <br /> born and raised on Hawaii Island, who works in homeowner association management at Associa <br /> Hawaii. She holds an Associate of Science degree and serves as Board President of West Hawaii <br /> Explorations Academy Foundation, a member of the Economic Committee for the Kona-Kohala <br /> Chamber of Commerce, and on the Work Site Committee of the Blue Zones initiative. <br /> Appearing before Your Committee via videoconferencing from the West Hawaii Civic Center was <br /> Ms. Bankston, with Mavor's Executive Assistant Rose Bautista in Elilo to introduce her. Ms. Bankston <br /> expressed her gratitude and desire to be solutions-focused. <br /> Council Member Karen Eoff noted that she was not familiar with Ms. Bankston, but hoped she would <br /> become well-versed with the CDP and the work that had been done over the last several years by the j <br /> Action Committee. Ms. Bankston noted that she would do research and get up to speed as quickly as she <br /> could. Council Member Eoff thanked Ms. Bankston for her willingness to serve and invited <br /> Ms. Bankston to come to the West Hawaii Civic Center to meet with the Council Members based out of <br /> that office at any time. <br /> 1 <br /> Ms. Bankston elaborated and explained that she was interested in and wanted to lend her expertise on a <br /> body related to planning. She stated she was born and raised on HaNvai`i Island, a mother, and <br /> volunteering to help future generations. <br /> Committee Chair Ashely Kierkiewicz let the nominee know that the plan had just been revised and <br /> recommended that she meet with Council Member Rebecca Villegas and the Planning Department to <br /> assist her with preparing for her term on the Kona CDP Action Committee. <br /> The vote was taken on the motion to hove this measure to Council with a positive recommendation and <br /> passed unanimously with eight"ayes." <br /> Chair Kierkiewicz notified Ms. Bankston that she was not required to appear at the full Council meeting <br /> on November 20, 2019. <br /> PC Report No. 32 <br />
