RESOLUTION NO. 415 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
UNITED WAY FOR THE PURCHASE OF MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES FOR ITS
COMMUNITY OUTREACH INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island United Way ("HIUW") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization whose mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier
community; and
WHEREAS, HIUW currently partners with 38 agencies and 48 community programs,
and supports local community organizations with an interest in health and wellness; and
WHEREAS, HIUW and partners reached over 75% of Hawai`i Island as a result of its
community outreach initiative; and
WHEREAS, HIUW is requesting funds to assist with the purchase of materials and
supplies for its community outreach initiative; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support organizations
and programs that promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to assist with expenses for its
community outreach initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
