JMSYOsH, ,• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 41? 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF <br /> THE LIBRARY OF HAWAII—WAIKOLOA REGION FOR ITS LITERACY <br /> PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Library of Hawai`i—Waikoloa Region (FL-WR) is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was formed in 2010 with the primary goal of bringing a <br /> State library to the Waikoloa region; and <br /> WHEREAS, operating out of a bookmobile, the FL-WR serves a population of over <br /> 6,000 people in the Waikoloa area, and is the only library in the State without a physical <br /> location; and <br /> WHEREAS, the FL-WR wishes to promote the extension of library services in Hawai`i <br /> and is requesting funds to purchase additional board books entitled On the Day You Were Born <br /> for its literacy project that encourages an early interest in reading and improves literacy in the <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs that <br /> facilitate the sustainability of Hawai`i Island communities through education and community- <br /> based collaboration; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Friends of the Library of Hawai`i— <br /> Waikoloa Region to purchase additional board books entitled On the Day You Were Born for its <br /> literacy project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
