Dear Hawaii County Council Members,
Bill 101 is potentially precedent setting for our state and is a huge step in the right direction
for the health and safety of our community members and also the health of our island
environment. It is disheartening and horrifying at how much herbicide is used by the county
and especially in close proximity to schools, parks, estuaries, and waterways. These
chemicals are so dangerous to human and environmental health that they should be used with
extreme limitation and caution if they are used at all. In reality, there are so many viable and
innovative strategies to replace the rampant use of herbicide by the county. We must think of
our environmental and community health first which is why this bill is so important for our
future. I strongly urge you to please support this bill.
