HERBICIDE USE,

Testimony in support of Bill No. 101.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 14, Hawaii County Code 1983 ( 2016 Edition, as amended),
is amended by adding a new article to be designated article 24 and to read as follows: -
Article 24. Use of herbicides in Hawaii County parks, roads, bikeways, sidewalks,
trails, drainageways, and waterways prohibited.
Personal Testimony Follows:
This bill will keep staggering amounts of dangerous pesticides from entering our precious
waters and Earth. This bill will keep pesticides away from our children and families and this is
absolutely necessary! It has been proven by numerous studies here in the United States and
other countries as well. There is no speculation that these pesticides are harmful in many
ways, it is a proven fact.
This bill is needed to put a halt to the contamination to our island and our planet in general.
The risk outweighs any benefit. The health of the land and the creatures and people inhabiting
it is paramount. We ALL deserve a healthy enviornment, at least one free of unneccesary
destructive pollutants, it is our birthright. Thank you for the consideration of this request, and I
sincerely ask for your support of Bill number 101.
