Dear Council Chair and Members,
On returning home from a trip,we were delighted to see that Hawaii County is FINALLY proposing an herbicide
ban.
We have lived in Hilo almost 50 years and have never allowed herbicides on our property as my husband,a
physician,has always felt that such chemicals were harmful to us,our children and now their children,as well as to
the environment in general.We have never had anyone tell us our yard was unacceptably messy.
Poisoning vast swathes of our roadsides is also UGLY and inappropriate for a County which counts on it's natural
beauty to attract visitors.
