Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 389-19, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 389-19, transmitted by Council Member Valerie T. Poindexter, via
Communication No. 588 dated October 31, 2019 awards a Public Access, Open Space, and
Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance Stewardship Grant to Pohaha I Ka Lani.
This resolution approves a grant of$32,000 to Pohaha I Ka Lani, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,
to protect,preserve, and restore the Waipi`o Valley Lookout property in Hamakua, pursuant to
Section 10-15 of the Hawaii County Charter.
Council Member Valerie Poindexter thanked Pohaha I Ka Lani and others who gathered the community
together on a regular basis to malama the `aina, and who have done and continue to do a great job.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 389-19, and
recommends its adoption.
