No. 402-19 PLACE: Council Chambers Kailua-Kona, Hawaii TIME: 3:02 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Cominittee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 402-19, reports as follows: Resolution No. 402-19, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 604 dated October 31, 2019 authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the Police Department. Funds in the amount of$76,444 would be used by the Police Department to purchase a shooting simulator for its training program. Hawaii Police Captain Aimee Nana explained this funding will provide both the new officers and incumbent officers training and participate in exercises which are presently being done by a lot of imagination to create or to simulate buildings. The simulator will allow the officers to conduct trainings with more technology free advantages as well as providing various scenarios without the risk of death or injury.
