RESOLUTION NO. 428 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ALOHA `ILIO
RESCUE TO SUPPORT ITS ONGOING EFFORTS TO SAVE ANIMALS FROM
EUTHANASIA.
WHEREAS, Aloha `Ilio Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose goal is to
reduce the rates of euthanasia and overpopulation of neglected and homeless animals on the Big
Island while providing education about responsible pet ownership; and
WHEREAS, Aloha `Ilio Rescue provides outreach and education on the importance of
spaying and neutering pets to alleviate animal overpopulation and encourages adopting animals
as a humane alternative to buying them from commercial and online sellers; and
WHEREAS, Aloha `Ilio Rescue is requesting funding assistance for expenses associated
with its dog surrender program, food supply, spaying, neutering, veterinarian care, and
microchips to support its ongoing efforts to save animals from euthanasia; and
WHEREAS, this project fits within the Department of Research and Development's
mission to collaborate with community-based organizations to balance economic, social,
community, health, and environmental priorities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to Aloha `Ilio Rescue to support its ongoing
efforts to save animals from euthanasia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
