Your Committee on Public Safety, to which was referred Communication No. 626,reports as
follows:
Communication No. 626, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated November 14, 2019,
nominates Anthony Sur to the Police Commission.
Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, introduced Anthony Sur. Mr. Sur is a board
certified forensic dentist and is an graduate of the Punahou School, University of Washington,
and Northwestern University of Dental School.
Mr. Sur states that his intent is to work as a private citizen and has always been interested in
investigative matters. Now that he has more time in his schedule he would like to try to improve
the current system and to assist and give back to the community.
Council Members as a whole are in support of the nomination. Chair Villegas stated that
Mr. Sur is not required to appear before the Council for final approval.
The Committee on Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 626, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Anthony Sur to the Police
Commission.
