Subject: Please NO SPRAY
Date: Monday, November 18,2019 5:00:41 PM
Please stop spraying herbicide upon the county roads. This has affected my day to day life
living on the Big Island. I work for a natural lifestyle company, and one of the weekly tasks
is to drive around the island and make weekly deliveries. I cannot tell you how many times
I have had to roll my windows up when I see the workers spraying herbicide. Usually they
have NO protection either, I have heard of many workers getting sick from this. The
workers have NO gear or protection. That is UNJUST. One time, I was leaving Naalehu
headed to Hilo... the people were spraying right off the highway near Honuapo bay, directly
in to the bay! In the water! There is no vegetation, only a cliff. This has gotten out of hand.
I think we all know that in every job there are gonna be some slackers, or people who do
things in not the smartest way. To put CHEMICALS in peoples hands like that, to be sprayed
willy nilly with no proper training, THAT is inconsiderate to the rest of this island. And, it
doesnt train better citizens of our community. More labor jobs are what actually builds skill
in this world, and I think its clear that when the land is cleared by hand/machine it lasts
longer anyway. The roundup ISNT even working...its just making things yellow, and putting
chemicals in the air... its not even the answer... Maybe its just time to TRY SOMETHING
ELSE.
Clearly, I'm a beekeeper, so I have many opinions on Roundup in general. Bottom line- such
a controversial pesticide shouldn't be used in
I have attached the photo that the Ka'u Calendar has posted repeatedly... it is not altered.
It is a county worker, spraying herbicide DIRECTLY onto a lady at the beach. THATS JUST
WRONG
PLEASE CONSIDER.
