To all concerned: Dear Council Members,
At present, I am not living in Hawaii. But our son and wife do live on the Big Island and we spend a good
share of our lives on air planes to and from that beautiful island. Currently,we live on another big,
beautiful island: Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada.
To the point: I have spent a large amount of the past ten years learning about and then fighting against
all chemicals that do MORE HARM than good. Herbicides are among those chemicals in that they not
only kill unwanted plants, but also all things living in the very earth that those plants are growing in; and
not just for one planting season/growing season but for many many seasons after spraying them.
Neonics (for short), are bee killers. Period.Watch bees leave a hive and never return. Watch bees
(including all pollinaters of fruit blossoms and flowers), die in your yard; disoriented and sick. It is
absolutely dispicable and not necessary as people planted flowers and vegetables and fruit for a
thousand years without the use of these terrible substances. There are better ways. Better than the
ground leaching out herbicides and neonics and those poisons ending up in your drinking waters,
streams, and finally the ocean. I ask you this:Why bother to ban suntan lotions to help the oceans but
allow the much worse use of herbicides, neonicitides, and powerful fertilizers?
That is my feelings on this topic. Thank you, Diane Butler (caring human being and proud mum of
