Aloha Honorable County of Hawaii Council Members,
I ask that you please vote in favor of Bill 101 to limit the County's use of chemical herbicides.
I work in health care and I am very concerned by the increase in autoimmune conditions I am
seeing in my clients, all having a link to impaired gut function. We are now finding high levels
of Glyphosate in humans. It is now in our food, water, air. The science is showing that
Glyphosate kills the microbiome in our gut and it kills the microbiome in our soils. It's time
we stop allowing the poisoning of our earth. In New Zealand they now spray hot salt water
instead of herbicides, it is actually cheaper and they use the same trucks with minor alterations
to achieve the same purpose. We can also pay people to use weed whippers instead of spray.
There are many solutions that won't cost millions.
I believe our health and the health of our children, our water and our earth is worth it.
