Honorable Council Members:
Please stop theproliferation of WiFi until it can be proven safe. I do not
consent to our public places being used as areas of wireless radiation,
which harms myself and family during our time outdoors.
I ask you to follow the Precautionary Principle which is now part of our
Hawaii Constitution. The times of "economic progress at any cost" are now
over. The request here is simply to follow the law. Please see the link
showing how some other municipalities, countries, and states either have
banned, or are considering a ban on 5G. Is this not enough to raise some
doubt concerning the safety of 5G?
WiFi will is not necessary to make a phone call. WiFi is for internet data.
We do not need to surf the web, at the expense of our health and
wellbeing, while in our public parks.
There are now hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific studies showing that
wireless radiation is harmful to ecology and to human health. The
government's exposure guidelines were set in the 1990s and based on
science from the 1980s. Did anyone even own a cellphone in the '80s? The
guidelines only consider heating effects, as if we were a roast cooking in a
microwave oven! Despite a huge body of scientific evidence, the FCC
refuses to update these guidelines, which are among the least protective
in the world.
This is extremely concerning when it comes to our children, whose small,
developing bodies make them more vulnerable to the effects of wireless
radiation. Children also have a longer life in front of them to experience
the kind of damage researchers have documented: various cancers,
reproductive problems, DNA damage, etc.
To view some of this evidence:

and also the attached links.
No "free" WiFi in our public parks, please.
Sincerely,
John Stern, Hakalau
