I join with hundreds of other concerned residents who find this proposal very disturbing and unnecessary. The public parks we have here are where people go to relax and be closer to Nature and for most local families our parks are places for family gatherings, birthday parties, meetings, relaxation and a way to get away from our T.V.s, computers, the stresses of jobs and noise so we can unwind, play music and spend time with each other outdoors. WI-FI is for internet data and we don't need to be on our computers or phones surfing the web at the expense of our health while we are in the public parks! We can do that in public libraries, coffee shops, school, the workplace and at home PLEASE stop the proliferation of WI-FI in public places until it can be proven to be safe. WI-FI is not necessary to make a phone call and I do NOT consent to our public places being used for areas of wireless radiation which has been proven to cause harm to myself and my family (especially children) during our time outdoors. PLEASE follow the Precautionary Principle, like so many other municipalities and which is part of our Hawaii Constitution. There are now hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific studies showing that wireless radiation is harmful. Many European schools have removed computers from classrooms for this reason, as the growing bodies of children are particularly vulnerable to these harms and living with the long-term effects and diseases they cause. The government exposure guidelines set by the FCC in 1990 were based on the science of the 1980's and are no longer accurate, yet despite the huge body of evidence from current studies, the FCC refuses to update the information! Researchers have documented various cancers, reproductive problems, DNA damage etc. caused by wireless radiation.
