FOR ITS PRESCHOOL PROGRAM. ' <br /> WHEREAS, Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit preschool organization <br /> whose mission is to help children develop a lifelong love of learning through a program that <br /> encourages freedom, individualism, and creativity; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki's preschool program focuses on cognitive skills, <br /> assists in developing physical coordination, builds social skills, supports healthy concepts, and <br /> allows kids to participate in the decision-making process, all in an atmosphere of trust and care; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, preschools can provide a thriving environment for intellectual and social <br /> discipline; therefore, most children who attend preschool enter kindergarten ready to learn and <br /> tend to achieve better test scores in reading and math; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. is requesting funding assistance for its preschool <br /> program that includes expenses for educational supplies, classroom materials, field trips, and <br /> playground/activity equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug- and alcohol-free activities <br /> and programs that promote healthy and safe environments for our youth; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. to assist with expenses related to <br /> its preschool program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
