�tYosNt <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII .tr4Vi <br /> :*- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • a <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 43`7 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET, <br /> INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS "WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK" KEIKI <br /> BACKPACK PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to end hunger in Hawai`i County with programs that provide food, promote the value of <br /> nutrition, and increase self-sufficiency; and <br /> WHEREAS, while most students in Hawai`i County are eligible for free or reduced <br /> breakfasts and lunches at school, during the times that school is not in session, these children <br /> may not be receiving regular meals, especially in households where parents are working two or <br /> more jobs; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., anticipates providing thousands of children with <br /> backpacks full of nutritious food, edible plant seeds, and nutrition information through its <br /> "We've Got Your Back" Keiki Backpack Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is requesting funds to cover expenses for backpacks, <br /> locally-sourced food, supplies, and educational materials for its "We've Got Your Back" Keiki <br /> Backpack Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports the development of <br /> a local economy that is diverse, stable, and in balance with Hawai`i's ecology, community <br /> character, and cultural heritage; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc., for its "We've Got Your <br /> Back" Keiki Backpack Program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
