Great work so far on the proposed amendments to the Energy code.
Only TWO COMMENTS
There is an Error in TABLE R407.1 Points Option (attached)
It mentions allowing REDUCED FENESTRATION from 14% to 10%
But this should should not say generic "fenestration",
as it could be fixed glass (does not open at all for ventilation) or the most popular, sliding windows (only
half opens)
It should Say (as Code intended), operable openings to the exterior for VENTILATION.
This would allow sliding and hinged doors as well.
One item from present adopted code, that still need addressing (but not in the first round of amendments)
(mostly with Clarifying of Definitions.)
1. R402.1.3 is Great, as it will quiet all those Whining about"affordable housing".
If you can afford to build a large home, then the energy code increases are also affordable,
BUT
The Less than 1,100 square feet in size MUST be clearly defined as to what is and isn't included in
the 1,100 sqft.
It should not include lanais, but what about enclosed area not habitable such as garage or storage?
