RESOLUTION NO. 457 ZO
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WEST HAWAII
PARKS AND ATHLETIC COPORATION TO SUPPORT THE 81h ANNUAL HAWAII
SENIOR SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT.
WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Parks and Athletic Corporation (WHIPAC) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that is partnering with the County of Hawaii to host the 81h Annual
Hawaii Senior Softball Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the 81h Annual Hawaii Senior Softball Tournament draws mainland and
local senior softball men and women players to this prestigious event and is being held
January 20-23, 2020, at the Kailua Park in Kailua-Kona; and
WHEREAS, WHIPAC has requested financial assistance with expenses associated with
umpire fees and printing of tournament booklets associated with the Senior Softball Tournament;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides an array of services for
the public with excellence, integrity, and aloha; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used ; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHIPAC for expenses related to the 8th Annual
Hawaii Senior Softball Tournament.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
