SUBJECT: Request for monthly progress report from Recovery Team
By means of this communication I am requesting a 15 minute update followed by a 30 minute
discussion with the Recovery Team on progress being made to complete immediate priorities listed
under Interim Work Plan of the Interim Recovery Strategy, specifically:
Community Engagement and Decision-Making:
• Identify stakeholders serving on the Blue Ribbon Recovery Task Force, and group next steps
• Clarification on decision-making process and structures
• Status of launching Puna Strong Grants program
Case Management:
• Update on number of households being served, cases closed, and resources available to help
individuals resolve situations
Reconstruct Infrastructure:
• Status/process for assisting remaining kipuka residents regain access to homes and farms
Federally-Funded Actions:
• Status of all 428 applications submitted by County agencies
• Status of CDBG-DR Action Plan and proposed projects to date
• Update on any applications submitted for EDA Disaster Supplemental funding
Comprehensive Recovery Plans:
• Status of work products being developed by TetraTech and Institute for Sustainable Development,
and planned touch points for informing community of content and soliciting feedback
Please place this on the January 7, 2020 agenda of the Committee on Governmental Relations and
Economic Development.
