Dear Chairman Schutte and Councilmembers :
Re: Alenaio Stream Flood Control
Attached please find a bill amending the capital budget by
establishing an appropriation for the Alenaio Stream Flood
Control project,
Although there is a State appropriation of $4 . 5 million
for this project, we have encountered a problem with the
disbursement procedures . In order to satisfy all
agencies, we are proposing that the County deposit its
funds with the Corp of Engineers, and as funds are
expended, the County would be reimbursed by the State,
We understand that this project will be put to bid during
the month of March. As such, we request that this matter
be waived from referral to committee and be considered by
the Council . Should you have any further questions,
please feel free to call ,

The Hawaii County Council at its February 23, 1994 meeting,
adopted Bill 204 on first reading, which amends the
Ordinance 93-50, by adding the Public Works - Alenaio
Stream Flood Control project ($3,000, 000) , which was
introduced by Mr. Arakaki . The second and final reading of
this ill is- scheduled for March 10, 1994

IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING THEREOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
JULY 11 1993 TO JUNE 30, 1994 ,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII :
SECTION 1. Ordinance 93-50 relating toublic improvements

and financing thereof for the fiscal year July 1, 1993, to
June 30, 1994, is hereby amended by adding the following
Project.
Public Works:
Alenaio Stream Flood Control $3 , 000, 000
SECTION 2 . Funds for this project shall beP rovided from
any available funding source.
SECTION 3 . This ordinance shall take effect upon its
approval .
