Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Gregory Charles Henkel of Council District 4 to the Fire
Commission. Mr. Henkel presently works as a teacher at Hawai'i Academy of Arts and
Sciences Public Charter School in Puna.
Mr. Henkel recently served as a Fire Commissioner for Council District 5 but has
recently relocated to Council District 4.
Mr. Henkel is an active member of our community where he has been a resident for
over 32 years. He states he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he will
fill a vacant seat to end December 31, 2023.
