HAWAII <br /> FOR ITS 2020 D.A.R.E. DAY EVENT IN WEST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that is committed to teaching elementary, middle, and high school <br /> students how to make responsible decisions to help lead a safe and healthy life; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Day is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates fifth <br /> through eighth graders from Hawai`i Island schools who have completed and graduated from the <br /> 10-session D.A.R.E. program; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii will be hosting D.A.R.E. Day in May 2020 for students <br /> in.West Hawai`i who have completed the D.A.R.E. program; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to assist with purchasing supplies, <br /> materials, andrefreshments for the 2020 D.A.R.E. Day event in West flawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br /> programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day event; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the 1-Iawai'i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via. <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for its 2020 D.A.R.E. Day event in West <br /> Hawaii. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
