RESOLUTION NO. __ 469 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATiNG AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII
FOR ITS 2020 D.A.R.E. DAY EVENT IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Hawaii is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that is committed to teaching elementary, middle, and high school
students how to make responsible decisions to help lead a safe and healthy life; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Day is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates fifth
through eighth graders from Hawai`i Island schools who have completed and graduated from the
10-session D.A.R.E. program; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii will be hosting D.A.R.E. Day in May 2020 for students
in.West Hawai`i who have completed the D.A.R.E. program; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to assist with purchasing supplies,
materials, andrefreshments for the 2020 D.A.R.E. Day event in West flawai`i; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth
programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free activities, such as the D.A.R.E. Day event; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the 1-Iawai'i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via.
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for its 2020 D.A.R.E. Day event in West
Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
