Dear Council Members,
I personally support Resolution 43120, directing the County
to strategically and urgently address the escalating Housing
Crisis on Hawaii Island.
Each year it become more and more clear that we are
continuing to create a situation where the only people who
can afford to rent or purchase a house on our island are
people from off-island with financial means. As a father of two
I an increasingly concerned that should my sons choose to
want to live on the Big Island they will not be able to do so
because of the lack of affordable rentals and housing.
For too long our County has not had a plan, and has not been
held accountable to address this concern. Resolution 43120 is
a great first step in the right direction.
