Comm 4tog From: Krishna Madhuri Devi Dasi { i To: Council Testimony Subject: Eruption Recovery _j, "•IVIV3 Date: Sunday,January 05,2020 7:54:44 PM City Council, I am writing this testimony because I am one of many residents of lower Puna that still does not have drivable access to my property because of the 2018 eruption that covered our roads. We are all aware that the county has been given $97,000,000 for recovery including the roads to our property. My property is a kipuka right now and it is in the Malama Ki Farm Lots. i We are asking for the county to give us a date that can be confirmed when the roads will all go back in. Pohoiki rd. and Government Beach rd. As well as all of the state maintained side roads. This is what the money was given for! All of the properties in my neighborhood have close to 20 feet of soil. A lot were untouched by lava and we want to get back to farming again. We are tax payers and we would like the money that has been given for recovery in our area that was most effected by the eruption to be used to put the infrastructure back in and help the residents of this area. It has been a year and a have now that I have been paying rent, and I still can not go home. Soon I will need more assistance if I can not get back to my property. We are all counting on you to do the right thing. Let's please move towards opening the roads so we can all go home and be able to give back to the communities. So that we may continue to live and work in one of the most special places on this earth. We believe you will do the right thing and use the money that was given for what it was intended for. Recovery for Lower Puna. Recovery starts with the roads! Mahalo Nui Loa, Melissa Ann Niemeyer Comm. Ref.To: KOG Ref. Date JAN - 7 2020
