TESTIMONY ON BILL NO. 126 (2019)—Hawaii County Energy Code Bill
To Council Chair Chung,Vice Chair Eoff and members of the Hawaii County Council:
The Mason Contractors Association of Hawaii (MCAH)represents the mason contractors in the State
of Hawaii.
Thank you for the opportunity to testify in SUPPORT of the Hawaii County Energy Code Bill No.
126. The Mason Contractors Association of Hawaii supports the intent of Bill No. 126 and would like
to request minor clarifying amendments.
To be consistent with Section 31 and to rovide further clarification of Section 29 . amend Table
R402.1.2 of the International Energy Conservation Code as attached to this testimony..
Bill 126 will ensure that the sustainability and safety benefits of mass wall construction are recognized
in the revisions of the Hawaii County energy Codes, as these revisions will help to create codes that are
tailored to Hawaii County's unique climate,resulting in greater energy efficiency and cost savings.
