Hello,
My name is Kellie Miyazu, I am a member of the Board of Directors at the East Hawai`i
Cultural Center. I submit this testimony in support of Resolution No. 436 20, as my
organization partnered with Temple Children and Keaukaha One Youth Development to
create the 'Activate Hilo' event.
The Activate Hilo event was a wonderful success. It generated new life and energy, not only
for the East Hawai`i Cultural Center, but for the surrounding areas of Downtown Hilo as well.
The event was an awesome addition to Black and White night. It brought wonderful art,
entertainment, and food to an at times overlooked area of town. It created an innovative
opportunity for the community to enjoy beautiful art which they may not have been able to
experience in Hilo otherwise.
